Childcare and preschool in Morphett Vale, SA

Morphett Vale Early Learning Centre offers long day care and a preschool program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Morphett Vale, Aldinga Beach, Christies Beach, Huntfield Heights, Port Noarlunga South, Woodcroft and Seaford Meadows.

All-weather outdoor environments

Each outdoor space includes a veggie garden and worm farm, giving children regular opportunities to care for the environment and learn about nature. Each room also has access to a sandpit, while the preschool outdoor space features a fixed play fort. The verandah around the centre helps children enjoy outdoor play in different weather.

Indoor spaces for play-based learning

Indoors, children take part in open-ended activities shaped around their interests and developmental needs. The rooms include spaces for exploration, creativity and quiet moments, giving children different ways to learn, play and reset during the day.

Art, craft and technology

Art and craft experiences are available for all age groups, giving children everyday opportunities to create, experiment and express their ideas. The preschool room also includes a smart board, adding another way for children to engage with group learning.

Consistent educator team

Children are cared for by a familiar team, with some educators having been at the centre since it opened. This consistency helps children build strong relationships and feel settled with the people who know them well. All educators have learnt simple Auslan to help children develop language and communication skills.

Government-approved Preschool program

Our preschool program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The program helps children practise routines, build friendships and develop the skills they need for a confident start to school.

Individual learning plans

Each child has an Individual Learning Plan that reflects their strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans to guide learning experiences and build on each child’s progress over time.

Fresh meals prepared daily

Fresh meals and snacks are prepared daily to help children feel nourished and ready for their day. Menus include balanced options throughout the day and cater for allergies and individual dietary requirements.

Updates through our family app

Families can keep up with their child’s day through photos and updates in our family app. This includes routines, learning moments, centre activities and the experiences children are enjoying throughout the week.

“Guided by Reggio Emilia’s theory, which emphasises learning through play, I am passionate about supporting children and families to reach their fullest potential.”

My career in early learning began in 2002, and I joined Morphett Vale Early Learning Centre in 2015. I have served as a Lead Educator, Educational Leader, and Assistant Centre Manager since 2020.

My years in the Early Education sector have been incredibly rewarding, seeing the positive impact on children and their families. I’ve learned that children are capable and enthusiastic learners. Guided by Reggio Emilia’s theory, which emphasises learning through play, I am passionate about supporting children and families to reach their fullest potential.

At Morphett Vale, we have a long-standing, dedicated team. Some educators have been with us for 19 years since the Centre opened, and most have been here for over six years. Our focus is on the children and their families. We build strong partnerships from the first meeting, listening and supporting families as they settle into their early learning journey.

I look forward to welcoming your family to Morphett Vale Early Learning Centre.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Morphett Vale, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

We promote sustainability by planting vegetable gardens and worm farms in each outdoor space. Children actively participate in recycling, including managing room-specific bins and collecting bread tags for wheelchair donations. Energy conservation is practised by turning off lights during quiet time.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Independence and life skills

Children develop autonomy, interdependence, resilience and a sense of agency through meaningful participation in everyday routines, such as preparing snack, caring for plants, and tidying shared spaces.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

This was the first that every single educator addressed our child directly and with energy. We signed up on the spot and it has been a fantastic experience since. Our child has now been here for nearly 4 years. They provide food throughout the day providing a decent variation for exploring foods. The activities are varied and the educators are constantly bouncing ideas off parents on what we would like to see in their rooms/schedules. Very respectful, approachable and helpful. I generally have trust issues and they provided true comfort. The communication through the app was brilliant; when we first started the updates helped to ease any anxiety, as time went on we were less glued to the app, however we still love going through the daily images to see what they have been up to! We aim to send our newborn here soon, provided there is space!! 😊 A big well done to everyone here!

The staff are all friendly and welcoming towards children and parents alike and they made the transition back to work very easy for our family. It is clear that my son loves being at day care, I'm often able to watch him play before he realises that I've arrived, and seeing how happily he interacts with the staff and explores his environment gives me great confidence in the quality of care he receives. The centre has excellent resources, I'm pleased to notice that there are always different toys or activities put out for the day as part of the educational program. Each room has a little pet, and my son loves to show me the fish and birds each day. The chef provides a varied and nutritional menu, which is clearly delicious as my son often eats multiple servings! The staff are all knowledgeable about child development and I love receiving his daily progress reports and photos of the different activities he has enjoyed throughout the day. I would highly recommend this centre!

See more Morphett Vale Early Learning has been amazing, since my son started there earlier this year at 18 months old and already he has learnt so much. I enjoy him sharing with me the new things he learns each week. The staff are always a pleasure and happy to talk to you. My son has developed a great bond with the staff in the rooms he has been in. His first friendships are beginning to form and it makes me so happy to hear him talk about his friends and call them by name. I have moved house since I first began sending my son to this centre and there are several other centres closer to where I now live but I will not be changing centres because I think Morphett Vale is fantastic and I highly recommend them.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Early Learning Services uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Early Learning Services is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
