Childcare and kindergarten in Sunshine West, VIC

Glen Gala Children’s Centre offers long day care and a kindergarten program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Sunshine West, Laverton North, Sunshine, Albion, Deer Park, Cairnlea, Ardeer and Derrimut. Our centre is open until 7pm to support families who need longer care hours.

Outdoor spaces for active play

Children can build strength, balance and self-confidence in outdoor environments with climbing forts, garden beds and open spaces for active play. These areas give children room to move, explore and challenge themselves in age-appropriate ways.

Indoor learning shaped by children’s interests

Our indoor play spaces are planned using observations, discussions and family feedback. Our educators reflect children’s interests, encourage curiosity and provide opportunities for both independent and group play.

Natural resources and technology

Children have access to natural resources and technology that encourage exploration, creativity and collaboration. These materials help children test ideas, work together and learn through hands-on experiences.

Long-tenured educators and teachers

Our long-tenured educators and teachers bring stability, experience and care to the centre. They take the time to know each child and family, creating a familiar environment where children can feel secure and supported.

Personalised learning approach

Each child has an Individual Learning Plan that reflects their strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans and family input to guide each child’s learning, helping children build confidence and progress at their own pace.

Government-approved Kindergarten program

Our Government-approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Through play-based learning, children develop independence, social skills and early learning foundations for a confident start to school.

Mini Monstars Program

Children take part in the Mini Monstars Program, which combines sports, music and yoga activities. The program helps children develop motor skills, language, self-regulation and confidence through fun, active experiences.

Fresh meals and family updates

Fresh meals and snacks are prepared daily to help children stay nourished and ready for their day. Families also receive photos and updates through our family app, making it easier to follow their child’s routines, learning and special moments at the centre.

  • Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood)
“Every child brings their own strengths, interests, cultural identity, and ways of learning. When these are recognised and respected, children develop confidence and a strong sense of belonging. ”

I have been working in early childhood education since 2000 and joined the centre in 2026. I bring over 25 years of experience across both international and Australian early learning settings. Throughout my career, I have worked in roles including Educator, Team Leader, Educational Leader, and Centre Manager, leading teams and supporting continuous improvement.

I believe the early years are a very important time, and I am passionate about supporting children to grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Every child brings their own strengths, interests, cultural identity, and ways of learning. When these are recognised and respected, children develop confidence and a strong sense of belonging. This guides my approach to creating environments where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to explore. I also prioritise building strong relationships, as children are more willing to take risks and try new things when they feel supported and understood.

When speaking with families, I explain that early childhood education and care centres provide additional learning opportunities that complement what children learn at home. In a centre environment, children build social skills through interactions with peers, engage in play-based learning guided by qualified educators, and experience routines and challenges that support their independence and confidence. We also work in partnership with families to support each child’s development and learning outcomes.

Our team is a dedicated group of educators who bring experience and passion to their work. We are caring, collaborative, and committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for children. Together, we communicate openly and focus on building positive relationships with children and families.

Building strong relationships with families is very important to me. I support families by being approachable, listening, and maintaining open communication. By showing respect, being consistent, and valuing each family’s culture and perspective, I aim to build trusting partnerships that support the best outcomes for every child.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Sunshine West, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Community engagement

Our local dentists regularly visit to teach children about dental hygiene and healthy eating. We also go on community walks to encourage investigation and educate children about road safety.

Social and emotional learning

Children develop a strong sense of identity as they feel safe, secure and supported, building confidence, resilience and a positive sense of self. Through group activities, conversations and play, children learn to interact with others with care, empathy and respect, building positive relationships and friendships.

Sustainability

Children develop respect for the environment through gardening, recycling and nature-based learning. Educators also introduce the interconnected aspects of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic, through concepts like fairness, sharing and community.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Age-appropriate early learning

We provide learning experiences tailored to each stage of your child’s development. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and designed to support children’s wellbeing, confidence and growing independence.

See more Glen Gala CC is a great place!! When I took my first son here 5 years ago I was naturally worried, but the staff were all so welcoming, so friendly, so reassuring, so kind and accommodating to my son's needs it didn’t take me long to become comfortable taking him here and not have to stress about him during the day.. the daily updates and notifications I received on the Xplor app about my sons journey through out his days at this centre was also very reassuring because I could see that he was happy. My second son comes here too and the staff continue to be amazing!!! Their friendliness, kindness and passion as educators is second to none and wouldn’t think of taking them anywhere else. Thank you so much for taking care of my beautiful boys ❤️❤️

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Early Learning Services uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Early Learning Services is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
