Centre Manager - Morphett Vale Early Learning Centre

"I believe in working in close partnership with families as this supports children and their learning."

I‘ve always had a passion for children learning and growing which became more evident after my first placement back in 2001. Thanks to that experience, I was convinced that this was the career for me and seven years later I started at Morphett Vale Early Learning Centre where I’ve been here ever since.

Throughout these years, I have completed a Diploma of Children’s Services, Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services, Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management and a Diploma in Business Management.

While I have the education and credentials to be a child educator and centre manager, the biggest lesson I learnt early on is there is no ‘right way’ when supporting children. Each child is an individual and need to be supported as such. This has led me to a teaching style that is constantly adapting and changing to meet our individual children needs and interests as well as the needs of the broader community.

My approach is to listen to the children – Truly see who they are. Building the relationship with a child at the start is the key to forming trusting bonds and in turn being able to best support the children. The benefits of learning at Morphett Vale Early Learning Centre is children are able to co-learn along side their peers. I believe children learn through role modelling and by observing others, they then are equipped to take on new challenges.

Also having trained educators that have current knowledge on child development allow us to support the child’s learning alongside supporting families with parenting challenges. Our centre has a large team of dedicated educators, with many that have been at the centre for several years with some being here over 15 years.

They come from all walks of life and each bring something unique to the team. We believe that having close relationships with each other, filters through to our families and children. Our team are an extension of our families and connect to each child like they are their own. We take that extra time to understand our families! I am a huge advocate for child protection matters and believe in every child being heard.

Our centre plans for lessons around child protection in our curriculums. Our team prides itself on being a safe environment that still allows children to be challenged and in control of their play. Our team are not friends just here at the centre, we genially enjoy catching up together and having a laugh outside our workplace too! Please get in touch with us on 1800 413 885. We’d love to meet you and your family and show you around our second home.
