Centre Manager -  Early Learning Services Forestville

“I have always wanted to be a teacher growing up and thrive from watching children learn something new or master a skill for the first time.”

My early childhood education and care career began in 2005, and I started working at  Forestville Early Learning Centre in 2021. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

I have always wanted to be a teacher growing up and thrive from watching children learn something new or master a skill for the first time. I have always enjoyed the fun and excitement of being around children experiencing their world and enthusiasm for life. I am a very creative person completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in the UK before embarking on a career working in early years education. I have worked in several primary schools in the UK supporting special education needs. This made me passionate about inclusive practices and education in early years. I then opened my own family daycare business, which I ran successfully for over ten years. I also had three children of my own before embarking on a career in management with G8 in a long daycare setting.

I enjoy coming to work each day in that I know I will positively impact the children, families, and the staff in my care, and I always feel inspired for the next learning experience I can provide for them.

I believe that high-quality early childhood education sets a child up for success through the rest of their educational journey. Over the years, I have learnt that each child is unique and brings with them their own talents, interests, and experiences. In my experience, you should never underestimate the ability of a child. Children are capable and competent leaders in their own learning, and it is up to us as Educators to nurture their independence through consultation and collaboration.

I take the time to develop trusting and respectful relationships with children and their families, helping them achieve a strong sense of inclusion and well-being. I want children in my care to have a well-developed understanding of what matters to them and to be heard.

My teaching style is inspired by nature and diversity, connecting the children to our environment and community. Children are protagonists in their curriculum, and they inform the direction of their learning. I facilitate their investigations through intentional teaching in collaboration with each child and my team.

Every child deserves the best start in life. And I don't ever take for granted the impact and position I have in supporting them and helping them on their early years learning journey.
