Childcare and preschool in Londonderry, NSW

Londonderry Early Learning Centre offers long day care and a preschool program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Londonderry, Cranebrook, Richmond, Bligh Park, Hobartville and Castlereagh.

Flexible indoor-outdoor learning

Our centre layout makes it easy for children to move between indoor and outdoor learning spaces. These flexible environments support open-ended play, giving children room to explore their interests and learn in ways that feel natural to them.

Outdoor learning in nature

Children are encouraged to connect with the natural environment through sensory play, outdoor exploration and everyday moments outside. Educators plan outdoor experiences and also make the most of spontaneous teachable moments as they happen.

Long-standing educator team

Many of our educators have been with the centre for an average of five years, with some team members here for more than 10 years. This gives children and families the comfort of familiar faces and strong relationships over time.

Individual Learning Plans for each child

Each child has an Individual Learning Plan that reflects their strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans to guide learning experiences and build on each child’s progress over time.

Government-approved Preschool program

Our Government-approved Preschool program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The program helps children practise routines, build friendships and develop the skills they need for a confident start to school.

Transition program with local school

Preschool children take part in a Transition to School Program with our local public school. This includes visits for celebrations, in-class programs, library visits and assemblies, helping children become more familiar with the school environment.

Fresh meals and snacks

Fresh meals and snacks are prepared daily to keep children nourished and ready for their day. Menus include balanced options and cater for allergies and individual dietary requirements.

Updates through our family app

Families can keep up with their child’s day through regular photos and updates in our family app, from routines and learning moments to centre activities and special experiences.

“I believe every child deserves the best possible start in life. ”

I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2003 and joined Londonderry Early Learning Centre in 2009. I have been the Centre Manager here since 2014, having previously worked as an Early Childhood Educator and 2IC.

I believe every child deserves the best possible start in life. As educators, we provide engaging experiences that encourage learning and teach essential life skills and emotions such as compassion, love, and warmth. The team at Londonderry Early Learning Centre is like a family, with many long-term members. We pride ourselves on our home-like environment and the quality of care we provide. Continuity of care is paramount, and our team has become an integral part of the local community. We have established strong partnerships with the local public school, community hub, and local businesses, actively supporting all aspects of our community.

The health and safety of our children, families, and educators are of utmost importance. Our centre is cleaned throughout the day and in the evening, ensuring the highest standards. We effectively manage infectious diseases and illnesses, providing peace of mind to our families.

Building strong relationships with families is crucial, and I believe listening is key. We invite families for coffee and chats, as well as various events throughout the year, strengthening our community bonds. For new enrolments, we encourage families to participate in weekly stay-and-play sessions before starting care. This helps both the child and family bond with educators and become familiar with the centre’s routines and surroundings.

We look forward to welcoming you into our Londonderry early learning centre.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Londonderry, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

We collect food scraps to feed local chickens, maintain a donation bin for clothes, homewares, and toys to be reused and recycled, and use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible. We also collect plastic bottles and cans for the return and earn initiative, with the funds raised reinvested into the centre.

Independence and life skills

Children develop autonomy, interdependence, resilience and a sense of agency through meaningful participation in everyday routines, such as preparing snack, caring for plants, and tidying shared spaces.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

My child’s educators show such genuine love and respect for my child that I have no doubt in my choice to place him here. The whole team greets you and everyone knows who your child is. As someone who has worked in the industry for a really long time Choosing a service was a really hard nerve racking time but I 100% made the right choice.

Throughout this time, we have had a very positive experience. The staff have consistently provided open and transparent communication regarding the girls' development and well-being. When our eldest daughter was diagnosed with autism at age 2, the support and professionalism of the team played a significant role in her diagnosis and the development of her NDIS plan. The centre has welcomed her therapist into the environment and worked collaboratively to ensure that both of our daughters feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Early Learning Services uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Early Learning Services is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
