Our Werribee Kindergarten’s Philosophy
At Little Blossoms in Werribee, our kindergarten program is guided by a child-centred, play-based philosophy. We believe that children are capable and inquisitive learners who thrive through exploration and active engagement with their environment. By observing and learning from children each day, we design experiences that are responsive to their interests and developmental needs.
Our values of respect, inclusivity, and lifelong learning create a welcoming environment where every child feels valued and empowered. Through play, children build creativity, problem-solving abilities, social-emotional skills, and confidence, preparing them not just for school, but for life.

Enriching extracurricular activities
At our Werribee kindergarten, we offer a variety of enriching activities that enhance children’s learning and appreciation for culture and community:
- African Drumming Sessions – Children develop rhythm, coordination, and a love for music.
- Sports Day (fortnightly) – Encourages teamwork, physical activity, and confidence through fun, age-appropriate games.
- Aboriginal Music Sessions – Introduces children to the rich cultural heritage of First Nations peoples through storytelling, traditional songs, and instruments.
- Cooking Classes – Every Thursday, children have the opportunity to explore healthy eating, develop kitchen skills, and participate in collaborative cooking experiences.
These activities foster creativity, inclusivity, physical well-being, and a deep connection to the wider world.

Daily rhythm and routine
At our Werribee Kindergarten, our daily rhythm balances structured learning with flexibility and free play:
- Morning welcome and free play – Building friendships and creativity.
- Group time – Sharing stories, songs, and discussions to build language and confidence.
- Indoor and outdoor play – Exploring art, construction, sensory activities, and more.
- Progressive morning tea – Promoting independence.
- Intentional teaching sessions – Focused on literacy, numeracy, and inquiry learning.
- Lunch and rest time – Encouraging wellbeing and recharging.
- Afternoon activities – Featuring extracurriculars like music, movement, and cultural experiences.
- Reflection and quiet play – Ending the day with calm and connection.

Local school connections
We partner with local primary schools in Werribee to support a smooth and confident transition from Kindergarten to primary school.
Throughout the kinder year, you and your child will have access to:
- School visits: Through transition visits and classroom experiences, children meet their future teachers, explore new environments, and build familiarity.
- Kindergarten information evenings: We invite school teachers to share their insights on ‘school readiness,’ offering families valuable guidance on how to best prepare their child for the move to primary school.
- School transition statements: Our Early Childhood Teachers prepare detailed Transition Statements for each child, outlining their strengths, interests, and learning progress. These statements are shared with families and schools to support a seamless transition into school.
These opportunities ensure that both children and parents feel informed, supported, and well-equipped for this important milestone in their educational journey.

Kindergarten program with long day care hours
Whether you’re a parent who works, studies, or simply needs additional flexibility in your day, our enhanced learning program offers the perfect balance of quality early education and extended care. Frequently asked questions
In Australia, sessional kindergartens or preschools are usually operated by local government, religious organisations, schools, private organisations or the community. They usually run during school term and school hours, meaning the program runs for 40 weeks per year, with most sessions finishing up around 2 pm, over 2-3 days per week.
The kindergarten or preschool program is also offered in long day care centres. Most long day care centres are open from 7:00 AM. to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday with flexible drop-off/pick-up times to better accommodate busy working families. Long day care centres run 52 weeks per year, meaning your child would not miss out on valuable learning opportunities during school holidays.
Nutritional meals and snacks are covered in long day care centres, so you don’t have to worry about packing lunches.
Child Care Subsidy still applies when your child attends the kindergarten or preschool programs offered in long day care services. Depending on your state or territory, different funding options can be combined with your Child Care Subsidy savings, making kindergarten or preschool more affordable for your family.
Essentially, there is no difference between the curriculums adopted by long day care and sessional kindergarten or preschool providers. They are both run by qualified early childhood teachers, and they all align with Early Years Learning Framework, focusing on supporting individual children’s development, interests and needs through play-based and intentional learning experiences.
If your child is already settled at a long day care centre, they have the opportunity to stay in a familiar environment, transitioning together with their friends.
