Flexible indoor and outdoor learning

Children have room to climb, ride, dig and play outdoors, with climbing A-frames, bike riding, sandpits and garden beds. The learning environment is flexible, with educators responding to children’s interests, development, family input and spontaneous moments that naturally come up during play.

Highly qualified educator team

Our highly trained educators are all diploma-qualified or above. The team is passionate about building strong connections with families, helping children feel understood, settled and ready to take part in the day.

Individual Learning Plans

Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families, reflecting each child’s strengths, interests and developmental goals. Educators use these plans to shape learning experiences around each child’s needs, family input and daily progress.

Government-approved Kindergarten program

Our Government-approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The program helps children practise routines, build friendships and feel more comfortable as they get ready for school.

Local community excursions

Children take part in excursions to local parks and schools, giving them opportunities to explore their community beyond the centre. These outings help children become familiar with local places and practise social skills in different settings.

Cooking, yoga and centre activities

Centre-based activities include cooking lessons and yoga sessions, giving children hands-on ways to learn, move and try something new. These activities add variety to the week and help children build practical skills, focus and confidence.

Fresh meals prepared daily

Fresh meals and snacks are prepared daily to help children stay nourished and ready for their day. Menus include balanced options throughout the day and cater for allergies and individual dietary requirements.

Updates through our family app

Families can stay connected through regular photos and updates in our family app. It gives families a simple way to follow their child’s routines, learning moments and centre experiences throughout the day.

“Nothing brings me more joy than watching children discover, imagine, and express themselves freely, and seeing their unique personalities shine a little brighter each day.”

I began working in early childhood education in 2009, and I joined the wonderful community at Sweet Sounds in 2025. I am passionate about creating environments where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow. Nothing brings me more joy than watching children discover, imagine, and express themselves freely, and seeing their unique personalities shine a little brighter each day.

Over the years, one lesson has guided me above all others: every child is unique. Because of this, our approach should be just as unique. I tailor my teaching and leadership with this in mind, nurturing each child’s individuality and honouring the moments that matter most to them.

When speaking with families about the benefits of early learning, I highlight the rich opportunities that a dedicated early childhood setting provides, especially the social connections, collaborative play, emotional development, and real-world learning experiences that simply can’t be replicated in the home environment. At Sweet Sounds, I am incredibly proud of our multicultural team. Many of our educators have been with us for several years, and each brings their own philosophy, strengths, and creativity to our centre. We respect, celebrate, and learn from one another. We make sure that children feel that sense of belonging too.

I also strongly believe in the village approach. A successful early learning community is built on genuine partnerships, not just among educators, but with families too. I value open, honest communication and deeply respect the insight parents bring. By listening, collaborating, and sharing in each child’s journey, we create a supportive environment that helps children flourish.

I look forward to welcoming your family to our St Albans early learning centre.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in St Albans, our experienced educators and teachers continually seek innovative ways to enrich your child’s education. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, we offer a variety of engaging and diverse learning experiences, including:

Language and early literacy

Children develop early literacy through storytelling, books, songs and meaningful conversations. Educators support children to explore language in many forms, including speaking, listening, viewing, drawing and writing, while building confidence communicating with others.

Independence and life skills

Children develop autonomy, interdependence, resilience and a sense of agency through meaningful participation in everyday routines, such as preparing snack, caring for plants, and tidying shared spaces.

Creative Arts

Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of creative experiences, including painting, drawing, drama, dance, storytelling, music and craft activities. These experiences encourage imagination, self-expression and confidence while supporting fine motor development.

Exploration and problem solving

Educators introduce open-ended materials and invitations to explore, such as building, measuring and experimenting. Through shared conversations and investigation, children develop curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

See more My son has been attending Sweet sounds early learning centre since nursery, and it has truly been the most wonderful journey. He is now in Toddler 2 and will soon be moving into kindergarten, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the love, care, and support he has received along the way. The educators have been incredible from the very beginning, always so patient, nurturing, and genuinely invested in his growth and wellbeing. They not only make sure he feels safe and happy every day, but also encourage his learning, independence, and social skills in such thoughtful ways. It’s clear how much they care about the children, and as a parent that gives me so much peace of mind. I’ve watched my son thrive here, building strong friendships, discovering new skills, and becoming more confident each day. The educators celebrate his little milestones as much as I do, which makes me feel like we are truly a team in his early learning journey. We are so thankful to be part of this caring community and can’t wait to see him continue to flourish as he moves into kindergarten. Sweet sounds early learning centre has been such a special place for our family, and I would highly recommend it to any parent.

We’re kept informed about our child’s progress, daily activities, and even the little moments that make us feel connected to their day. The staff go above and beyond to make sure parents feel supported and involved. The environment itself is bright, clean, and thoughtfully arranged to spark curiosity and creativity. There’s always something new and exciting going on—from music and sensory play to outdoor adventures and storytelling. It’s clear the team works hard to make learning fun and meaningful. See more This day care is the best thing that happened to my toddler, she started in nursery this year while still crawling and now is in the toddler group, she is so happy there and not even crying when we are dropping her, I love the fact that they have a dedicated play area for each age group with two teachers during play time. The teachers go way beyond to ensure that the kids are safe in their premises, they welcome the kids with a smile in the morning. We are moving houses but we will keep our child there. Take your child there and you will not regret it.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits and spare socks.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits and spare socks.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Early Learning Services uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Early Learning Services is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
