Meet the Centre Manager

Shannon Exner

What is your name?

Shannon Exner.

How long have you been working in childcare?

10 years.

What is your favourite part of working at the centre?

I love watching the joy on the child’s face when they are learning something new or completing a task that they have been struggling with.

What qualifications do you hold?

A degree in early childhood development and an honours degree in educational psychology.

What are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about all areas of development within a child’s life. However; I am most passionate about developing a love for learning within the children. If children love school they will always learn and develop their skills further.

What are you most proud of at your centre?

I am extremely proud of the team and how well they work together. They are extremely passionate about children and will go above and beyond to ensure that all their needs are met.

What is your favourite inspirational quote?

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

What inspired you to become an educator?

Growing up I really disliked school finding it very difficult to learn. My teachers weren’t passionate which resulted in me hating learning. It was through this process in my life that I decided I wanted to change the way children learn. I wanted them to become curious again and to develop a love of learning that would last a lifetime.

What values are most important to you in your team members?

The values that I feel are most important within a team are communication, passion and dedication.

What is your philosophy about educating children?

I want children to develop a love for learning. I want them to become curious and have a wonder for life that allows for continuous learning.

What makes your team/centre special?

Their love and passion for children.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

A teacher.

What is one of your hobbies?

Drawing. I love drawing (or doodling) when I have any spare time.

What message would you like to tell parents considering your centre?

We are a unique centre situated in a beautiful area. We have large playgrounds for the children to use, and natural surroundings that we often utilise.

The children are fed a healthy warm lunch daily which is carefully prepared by our very dedicated kitchen staff on our premises. Along with this healthy lunch they get a morning snack, as well as, an afternoon snack. All our meals are approved by the ‘Munch And Move’ initiative.

Our teachers are very dedicated to the upbringing and educating of all children ensuring that the children feel love and supported throughout their time spent at the centre. They encourage children to learn through play through a program that is based on the Early Years Learning Framework. Our programs help prepare children for the more formal years of their education.

Reviews and Testimonials

See what some of our parents say about our centres:

“I just wanted to let everyone know about what an excellent long day care Boronia Hall is. The teachers are friendly, helpful and very professional. The centre director runs a tight ship as well as facilitating a fun, colourful, happy environment. My daughter is always on cloud 9 when she comes home – the activities the children are involved in are well thought out and fun. Overall it is a very caring, family like daycare that we will be sad to leave now that she is heading to school”

My daughter attend Campbell Hall last year, really good centre. the girls are lovely, the centre is really clean the children are really happy. Sarah and her team took special care to get to know me my family and specially my daughter. They went the extra mile to keep communication going, always greeted with a smile and warm embrace for my child when we arrived. The rooms are beautiful, the girls take really good care to make sure that there are always exciting activities out for the children. i don’t think I ever walked in and the centre looked dirty or messy. The best thing about Campbell Hall was the comments my daughter would have when coming home, talking about all the fun she got up to, who she played with and the new things she learned from her lovely teachers. Overall our experience at Campbell Hall was fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for care.”

My daughter has been at Millers Hall for almost a year and she absolutely loves it. The staff are caring and always genuinely pleased to see her, and she’s been cared for by the same staff all the time she’s been there (staff turnover seems to be very low, which is important to me, similarly the same children have been there the whole time and so she has some lovely little friends there too). The centre is bright and colourful, with cosy areas and a great outdoor play area with lots of toys and a veggie patch that the kids are actively involved in. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for quality, caring and stimluating care for their toddler.”

“Our daughter Ruby has been going to Jamieson hall from 4 months old and we are delighted with this child care centre. The carers are always happy and friendly when I arrive each day and are full of information about my daughters day and are very helpful with any of my questions. They call us immediately if they have any concerns with regards Rubys health. We feel blessed to have found this efficiently run childcare centre and would highly recommend it to other parents.”

My eldest child has been at MacKellar Hall for two years now and we both love it. With the support of the dedicated and caring educators she is very ready for Kindergarten next year. She has developed good social skills, a love of learning and great problem solving skills. The centre has fantastic resources including an electronic white board, great play area/garden and heaps of craft materials so there is always some new creation on display in the colourful and inspiring room. We always look forward to seeing the photos and description of what the class has done each and every day. I know that we made the right choice to send her to MacKellar Hall when I arrive and she begs to be able to stay just a little longer”
