Centre Manager - Lavender Lane Conder Early Learning Services

“What we remember from childhood we remember forever — permanent ghosts, stamped, inked, imprinted, eternally seen.” ~ Cynthia Ozick

I began my career in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2004 in Canberra and started working at Lavender Lane Conder in 2019. I have a range of qualifications including Advanced Diploma Children’s Services, Diploma Management, Certificate of Teaching and Assessment, Infant Massage Qualified Instructor, NRL Sports Trainer and I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary).

I am fortunate enough to have grown up with my mother who is also an early childhood educator and has been since 1990. From a young age I knew that education was my passion in life and as I progressed through my traineeships, I also developed a strong connection to family support. For me, early education is about more than the child, it is about that child’s family, community and circles of security which guide, influence, support and shape their opportunities for the future.

Children never cease to amaze me. Their absolute genuine wonder and enthusiasm to be a part of the world around them and their individual sparks of personality which thrive in play based, exploration focused learning environments. Children shape their own learning and when educators use thoughtful, purposeful, and intentional teaching, children reach outcomes which will support their on-going life journey.

Children should be seen, heard, and celebrated! Every child’s journey is unique and early childhood educators are a key component to supporting and building intrinsic motivations for on-going learning later in life.

Early childhood learning is some of the most important learning humans go through. In the first five years of life the human brain grows and absorbs more than it will for the rest of the lifespan. Early learning does not involve flash cards, worksheets, and academic focused assessments. Early learning is about intrinsic motivations and building dispositions where children view and engage in the world with wonder and curiosity. Where they are supported to be hands on, play focused, social, and active participants in their own learning.

Nothing is more important to my educators and I than children’s safety and wellbeing. We are committed to be strong advocates in the lives of children in our service and wider community. You can read more about our commitment to safety here

At Lavender Lane Conder we have long-serving, multicultural team members who have strong connections to the Lanyon Valley and wider community. Our educators are passionate about early years learning and are committed to a journey of reflection and on-going continuous improvement. We have a saying at Lavender Lane Conder – “The children don’t belong to just one room, they belong at [all of] Lavender Lane”. Educator’s build relationships with all the children and are dedicated to bringing out the Hundred Languages of Children across the whole service.

Communication is a key component to ensure children are supported to reach early life learning outcomes. We use a variety of communication tools to ensure a rich variety of information is shared. This includes quarterly newsletters, regular email updates, messages on Xplor (our all in one family app)  and of course the most important of all, face to face.

A fun fact about me is that I love all things creepy and crawly… I have lots of pet reptiles including big lizards and slithery snakes!! My favourite food is vegemite and I absolutely love to dance and sing all around my house while I am doing boring housework.

Our team at Lavender Lane Conder cannot wait to meet you and your family.
