Mala Nielsen

Centre Manager - Blinky Bill Early Childhood Centre (Gowrie)

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."

I began my early childhood education and care career in 2013 and started working at Blinky Bill Early Childhood Centre in 2021.  I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and now continuing with my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

Early childhood education is my passion.  I love being part of a child’s learning journey to reach their best outcomes and become the confident and unique little people they are. I am committed to building relationships with families being the most important voice in their child’s life whilst working alongside a caring, dedicated and professional team of educators to provide high-quality care and education.

My pedagogical belief for my teaching is to involve everyone in your learning journey. Benjamin Franklin Scaffolding’s quote on children’s learning, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn”, gives me a sense of awareness that they are desperate to learn and grow. With my experience, children can conquer the world if given the right tool of guidance.

I am passionate about helping children on their learning and life journey.   I believe in inclusive practices that promote dignity and respect. Every child has the right to high-quality education and care, and I am grateful to be in a position to do this.

My team and I are always available to support families with their transition into the childhood setting. I love getting to know you all with a very friendly approach. When arriving at the service, be welcomed with a friendly smile and just having a friendly chat. I believe in building strong partnerships with the families supporting one another throughout your time here.

I love to get to know what you and your children have been up to on the weekend and create a sense of belonging by encouraging our staff to extend on your child’s interests. I believe that families need that sense of security and belonging when leaving the service; they can have a fun day at work with the children being cared for by educators with passion and a thirst for thriving success.

The team at Blinky Bill are dedicated, caring and supportive. The majority of my team is new, but we have built an amazing bond between each other and the families. The team strive to make the service feel like a second home for everyone that comes in. Our team understands just how important your children are to you, and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Blinky Bill has child protection policies and procedures that allow educators to have that open and honest communication with families.

At Blinky Bill, when families book a tour with us, we provide them with all the information they need and give them the tools to make the transition easier.

They are welcome to meet our friendly team, get to know the service in person and make that choice by feeling comfortable leaving their precious one with us.

Our centre promotes inclusion with educators from different cultural backgrounds who speak multiple languages such as Hindi, Mandarin, Philippines, and Japanese.
